Gathering Our Thoughts

Ladies, any opinions on how we can have some fun with this blog?  What should it be a forum for?  We obviously don't want to get into too much detail about the books, which would spoil our meetings or give away details for first time readers.  We don't have quite the same type of things going on in our lives as the five women and one man in The Jane Austin Book Club that we need to be reporting.  We don't have dashing men riding up to us on white stallions in top hats and breeches, offering their chivalrous services for our every need at the next country ball, after which we would share the story here.  So what shall we do?

  1. I have been mulling, milling (?) this in my head...And I don't know about you, but I have chivalrous men falling at my feet daily. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration (okay, a GIANT exaggeration). But is there not a reason we could use this blog to specifically apply Jane Austen to our every day, walking around lives? I don't know, just a thought. I will have to come up with a clever post to serve as an example.

  2. Hmm, I was kind of wondering that as well, but more in terms of (ok, maybe this is the elementary teacher in me) to which character(s) do you feel you relate the best? In what ways? Those were some of the first thoughts I had in the opening chapters of Emma.

I have also been doing a lot of mulling, Kayla, and even though I've made significant progress with Emma (thank you, free, public domain podcast!!), I'm still not sure what I should be blogging about... perhaps more ideas will come to us as the book club develops.
