Have you read this one?

Earlier this week, my friend Sarah *lent me this book to read. I can't remember what we'd been talking about, but I had not mentioned our little book club to her, so I figure that it's providence that she gave it to me!

I thought that it looked familiar, but after reading the back, I decided that I hadn't read it. I'm eager to start it, but I know that would inhibit me from reading Mansfield Park. And we all know how successful I've been with our other books!

After doing a little investigating, I found that I've read the follow-up title by the same author, called Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart. It was ok, but nothing earth-shattering, in my opinion. Anyway, now I know why Jane Austen Ruined My Life looked so familiar!

*Side note: I had to consult Grammar Girl to find out if it is correct to use the word "lent" in that sentence. Since we are fond of all/most things British in our book club, I stuck with that form of the word. But here's what she said, if you're curious. It is always good to get some affirmation from the grammar experts!

  1. I am excited to hear your report on Jane Austen Ruined My Life, Betsy. However, you should be warned that Kayla might slay you in your sleep if you don't finish Mansfield Park...

  2. I may slay you in your sleep, Betsy, if you don't finish this one. I'm counting on it. Now...that would really ruin your life, and mine too.

  3. So we'll all be happier if all four of us read the book, right? That means I have got to get a move on...
